On a cold winter night in Cairo, 28-year-old Hazem welcomes men to his father’s funeral. Religious rituals are interrupted by the sudden arrival of his widowed mother, who starts to reveal the deceased’s affairs. People are trying to silence her. What will Hazem do?

Maïne’s father’s funeral is about to take place tomorrow. According to tradition, only men can carry the coffin to the cemetery. However, the girl does not intend to obediently wait at home. Film presented at Clermont-Ferrand ISFF. Polish premiere.

Firaz lives in the Turkish countryside. After her father’s death, everyone expects her to take care of her grandfather, but she wants to go to the city. While helping to organise the funeral, she impatiently awaits the arrival of her cousin who is supposed to help her find a job. Polish premiere.

 

Istina, dir. Tamara Denić (Germany) 2022, 28’, 16+
A committed photojournalist documenting the activities of Serbian nationalists is threatened. When the aggression begins to affect her daughter, she begins to consider fleeing to Germany, assuming she will be able to safely practise her profession there. Film awarded the Max Ophüls Preis. Polish premiere.
