There are 36 days left before Russia’s full-scale military invasion of Ukraine. On another Baptism of Christ holiday, an ice hole was made in a pond in a bedroom suburb of Kyiv. Church bells are heard on the shore, people are undressing, standing in line… Film presented at Przezrocza Film Festival.

 

Avitaminosis, dir. Kateryna Ruzhyna (Ukraine, Czech Republic) 2023, 26’, 16+
The unfavourable situation on a labour market during the pandemic pushes Kateryna to work in a fraudulent call centre that sells magical vitamins. She begins to suffer from avitaminosis. Polish premiere.

The stories of Ukrainian women and men who reached Berlin fleeing from the war. The stories are combined withthe Viltze group performances. World premiere.

 

 

Waking up in Silence, dir. Mila Zhluktenko, Daniel Asadi Faezi (Germany) 2023, 18’, 13+
The former Wehrmacht barracks became a shelter for Ukrainian refugees. Among them are children who learn basic words in a foreign language and, just like the adults, they live in a constant state of suspension. When will everyone be able to return home? Film presented at Berlinale.

 

Cars from Ukraine, dir. Alicja Sokół (Poland) 2023, 16’, 15+
Three families of Ukrainian refugees find asylum in a seaside town in Poland. Each of them tell their own stories about the dangerous escape from the war. Film presented at WFF.
