LUBLIN MEDIA MEETINGS: HOW TO TALK ABOUT HISTORY? – WEBINAR

This year we are celebrating the 75th anniversary of the end of World War II and the liberation of Auschwitz. Many people and institutions wonder how to recall important historical events in order to protect them from being forgotten. Why is history so important to us? Can movies, video games and other multimedia forms based on often traumatic events from the past be entertaining? Can the past be a tool for talking about the present and the future? We will seek answers to these and other questions during the webinar “How to talk about history?”. It will be attended by representatives of the world of film and VR. The workshops will be led by dr Radosław Bomba, Director of Video Games Research Centre UMCS and assistant professor at the Institute of Cultural Studies at the Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin, author of the book Computer Games in the Perspective of the Anthropology of Everyday Life and co-editor of the first in Poland monograph on digital humanities Digital turn in humanities.

The event will be broadcast live on Lublin Film Festival facebook page, where you can ask questions in the comments. The event will be translated into Polish sign language.
