LIMITS OF FAITH

Faith is an idea far wider than just religion. Faith can both take you in the heights and bring you to the lows, it can both broaden your horizons or slightly narrow them. All it takes is you setting your own limits.

Three separate stories of four average Singaporeans – a pair of young twins, a secondary school prefect, and a conservative housewife – each encounter a sexual situation in the course of their day. Film presented at e.g. Annecy IAFF.

Light Years, dir. Monika Proba (Poland) 2021, 28’, 15+
Vitali has always wanted to be a priest. There is only one thing left to do – according to the rules of the Eastern Orthodox Church, he needs to find himself a wife. Waiting for the change to come, he rents a flat with a friend from the seminary. They turn the two tiny rooms filled with books and icons into their own world, living beyond time and mundane rules. Film awarded at the Krakow Film Festival and “The Youth and Film” FFDK.

Women of Virtue, dir. Stéphanie Halfon (France) 2021, 30’, 18+
Etel, a 9-year-old girl who lives in the Hassidic community in Paris, gets her period for the first time. Myriam, her mother, finally looks at her as if she were a proper woman. Etel is blessed, until she finds out that in her religion, women are considered impure when they have their period. Film awarded at e.g.Tirana IFF.
