Focus: Experiment is a competition for filmmakers who are looking for new forms of storytelling, contradicted logic, break patterns and change composition rules. As a result of their experiments, unique productions arise that help us look at our world from a whole new perspective.

Inside, dir. Yann Chapotel (France) 2021, 6’, 13+
Inside unrolls a mosaic of windows, those of the building that the director regularly filmed from his own window. Along this border where the interior opens onto the exterior, a multitude of moments of everyday life overlap and respond to each other, forming a choreographic fresco of simple gestures. The Sweet Hassle of a First Time, dir. Eva Zanen (Netherlands) 2021, 14’, 18+
Across multiple splitscreens, five couples have sex with each other for the first time, with all the accompanying awkwardness that seldom makes it onto the silver screen. An experimental, tragi-comic sex film without boobies or butts. Polish premiere.

The Construction of a Sound, dir. Cristóbal Arteaga Rozas (Spain) 2021, 18’, 15+
A couple prepares a meal for their guests. They realize that one ingredient is missing. He stays in the kitchen, she goes to the store… Polish premiere.

Pierre is staring out the window of an office building in the business district La Défense. Down below, a colleague who was dismissed that morning has been sitting on a bench for hours, alone in the cold. Why won’t he go home? Film presented at e.g. Clermont-Ferrand ISFF.
