FOCUS: EMOTIONS PT. 2

The Focus: Emotions competition is devoted to short dramas that evoke strong emotions in the audience. Sorrow mixes with joy, excitement with powerlessness, and sometimes, it brings out some tears. This cinema from all around the world makes us realise that although our cultures often differ, we are very similar when it comes to emotions.
We finish issuing tickets 30 minutes before the screening or when there are no more left.

 

First Goodbyes, dir. Mathilde Profit (France) 2019, 24’

A father takes his daughter to Paris to begin her new student life, far from her home and far from him. This one to one journey is their first and maybe their last. Both of them know they’ll have to say goodbye.

During a night shift, Somali rideshare driver in New York, receives news about a family tragedy. The faces in the backseat change as he cannot believe what he has heard can be true.

In three days, Elodie is taking an exam to be a beautician. Her father Christophe, a butcher, would rather like her to help him in his shop. But at the moment, Elodie deals with another issue – she has to find… a hairy model who’s going to help her pass a test.

Bonnie wants to witness the execution of her son’s murderer. Along with her daughter, they are going to the prison where the sentence is to be carried out. However, this journey is not going to be easy for them.
