FOCUS: DOCUMENTARY

In this competition we are giving the voice to directors of documentary films. Each of those productions has a different theme, and they also differ in terms of their approach to the form. However, the authors are connected by their in-depth analysis and broad, nuanced look at the problems. For them, the world is not black and white, but it has all shades of grey.

Dusty Giant, dir. Fabi Andrade (Brazil) 2021, 15’, 13+

Rose lives with her son in a small town near São Paulo. She sacrifices herself to ensure her son’s future. But an unexpected event will make her look at her son in a very different way. Polish premiere.

All Those Sensations in My Belly, dir. Marko Djeska (Croatia) 2020, 13’, 18+

After sex reassignment, Matia tries to find a true intimate relationship with a heterosexual man. Film awarded e.g. at Anibar IAF and Animafest Zagreb.

Bab Sebta, dir. Randa Maroufi (Morocco) 2019, 19’, 15+

A series of reconstructions of situations observed in Ceuta, a place of flourishing frontier trade in the Spanish enclave on Moroccan soil. Film awarded at Tempere FF. Polish premiere.

Just a Guy, dir. Shoko Hara (Germany) 2020, 15’, 18+

Three women talk about their relationship with Richard Ramirez, a serial killer and a rapist, whom she contacted after he was convicted. Film awarded e.g. Kraków FF and Animafest Zagreb.
