Lublin Film Festival All Year Round! „The good or the bad?

Lublin Film Festival is an international celebration of cinema and an opportunity to get acquainted with the latest films of emerging stars of world cinematography. LFF All Year Round screenings are replay of festival’s hits which revolve around the same subject matter or are similar in form. In September we will show films from the last editions of the festival. Their characters do not fit into a simple, black-and-white vision of the world. Is it possible to be good and evil at the same time?

All the films are subtitled in Polish and English.

Borshch, dir. Apollinaria Tichomirowa (Russia) 2017, 11’

There are no black and white situations during a civil war. Everyone can be good and bad at once. A day in a life of a commander of the unit stationed in the area of the former USSR.

Lost Exhile, dir. Fisnik Maxhuni (Switzerland, Kosovo) 2016, 29’

Emir works as a people smuggler between Serbia and Hungary. This time he has to drive a young woman from Kosovo across the border. Emir’s employers want to turn her over to a prostitution ring. Emir struggles with the greatest moral dilemma in his life. Film awarded at Locarno IFF.

Grandma’s Day, dir. Miłosz Sakowski (Poland) 2015, 30’

Tomek tries to pull a ‘grandparent scam’ on an elderly woman. The woman suddenly exposes the scammer and locks him in her apartment. She has a deal for him. Tomek will get the money if he pretends to be her grandson when a social worker comes to visit. Film awarded at festivals in Koszalin and Gdynia.

Security, dir. Vera Pirogova (Russian Federation) 2020, 21’

The security guard detains a teenage girl, who sneaks into the desolate factory. While waiting for the guard’s boss, they are getting to know each other better.

Mascarita, dir. David Cánovas (Spain) 2013, 10

A worker of a banana plantation goes out in disguise to enjoy the carnival night.
