The story of the future pope’s life outlined on the background of the turbulent and tragic events of the 20th century that happened to Poland and Poles. Young Wojtyła takes part in the Way of the Cross in Kalwaria Zebrzydowska. The service leaves a permanent mark on the young and sensitive boy’s mind. Few years later, Nazi Germany invades Poland. Karol Wojtyła seeks shelter in Cardinal Sapieha’s house.
