The competition screenings are divided into thematic sections, allowing viewers to explore the topics that most frequently engage contemporary short-film creators.

Border, dir. Maria Magriel (Poland) 2024, 30’, 15+
Oksana has been earning a living in Poland for five years, while her two daughters stayed in Ukraine under their grandmother’s care. At last, she decides to bring them to live with her. The journey they take together puts the strength of their bond to the test.

Lou, dir. Tara Maurel (France) 2024, 19’, 15+
Five-year-old Lou senses the smell of tobacco on her mother’s hair. Soon, a man joins them, and they spend the afternoon by the river. The little girl watches him and wonders who he is, what he’s doing there, and why he stays so close to her mother.

A Chinese woman who has recently moved to the United States tries to keep her daughter’s secrets from her new friends.

Oliwia raises her two-year-old son alone. She goes through a motherhood crisis and unsuccessfully seeks help at therapy centers. While struggling with depression, she tries to create a safe home for her child.
