The Korelacje Festival in Wrocław is an innovative event in the areas of film art and accessible culture. It presents Polish films in a new formula – the plot is accompanied by an original narration created by the masters of words invited to the project.

This is not a typical audio description, which is usually a verbal description of what is happening on the screen. However, it is a type of subjective tour of the film, a way of interpreting it in a personal, free and often emotional way, which allows the recipients to watch the film through the eyes of the narrator. A film with an original audio description becomes a completely new work. Thanks to the correlations between different fields of art and the way it is presented, the audience has the opportunity to experience cinema in an unusual, surprising version.

Thanks to the cooperation with the Korelacje Festival, we can present two films from last year’s edition in Lublin for the first time.

The Wolf, dir. Marek Piestrak (Poland) 1982, 98’, 18+

Film with Polish narration (the original audio description read by Dorota Masłowska) and with subtitles for the Deaf or Hard-of-Hearing (SDH).

The screening is free of charge, but you must show your ticket when entering the room. Tickets are available at the box office of the Centre for Culture in Lublin.

Our cinematography has never been famous for horror films, which does not mean that Polish filmmakers did not know how to make them. Marek Piestrak’s “The Wolf”, a story about a curse and revenge from beyond the grave, is already a horror classic. The story of a November Uprising veteran haunted by the ghost of his dead wife resembles productions from the British studio Hammer Films thanks to the historical realities and Gothic atmosphere. The audience, hungry for strong sensations, appreciated it: almost two million viewers went to cinemas after the premiere in 1983. However, even if you know Piestrak’s film well, Dorota Masłowska’s original audio description will make you look at it in a completely new way. The horror has been replaced with irony, and the writer’s watchful eye brings to the forefront the details hidden in the shadows. Have you ever noticed the main character’s hairstyle? For him, every day is a bad hair day. “Kacper’s hair is problematic, frizzy. They require special care, special conditioners, which he does not use, considering that Kacper has worse things on his mind, like his wife being transformed into a wolf”. That’s life. Because personal hygiene can really be a challenge if you have a werewolf to worry about. So get on your horse (“Hoof! Hoof!”) and set off through the mist and geysers of artificial blood with Dorota Masłowska to learn the secrets of the vengeful Wolf!
