The Focus: Transgression competition is dedicated to films that experiment with form and explore new modes of storytelling. These works often approach complex subjects in surprising ways, blurring the boundaries between types and genres of film. You will find here bold experiments, intimate reflections, and original documentaries. The competition screenings are divided into thematic sections that reflect the diverse ways in which filmmakers push the boundaries of cinema.
The Ghosts You Draw on My Back, dir. Nikola Stojanović (Serbia) 2023, 15’, 16+
Teenage Sara visits her grandmother’s grave in a small town with her family. Construction of a new railway line disrupts the peace of the quiet village. Sara’s attention is drawn to one of the construction workers. Film awarded at e.g. Zubroffka ISFF.
Sewing Machine, dir. Ülo Pikkov (Estonia) 2024, 17’, 15+
The story of the director’s great-grandmother from Pechory and her newborn child, who had to be hidden in a sewing machine box. Film awarded at e.g. StropTrik IFF.
Bottleneck, dir. Carlos Segundo (Brazil, Portugal) 2025, 18’, 13+
Overwhelmed by work, a voice-over artist, persuaded by a friend, goes to a house in the countryside. At first somewhat disoriented, she gradually becomes more and more attuned to her new surroundings.Film awarded at Milwaukee SFF. Polish premiere.

Mirko has a turbulent past, but now he dedicates himself to caring for his sick mother. Raffaele is searching for his place in the world, fighting his way through life. Eventually, he crosses a line and turns to Uncle Mirko for help. Polish premiere.
