SUMMARY:HISTORY IN CINEMA/HISTORY OF CINEMA: JERZY KAWALEROWICZ
DESCRIPTION:In 2022, Jerzy Kawalerowicz would celebrate his 100th birthday. Simultaneously, next year would be the 15th anniversary of his death. He is one of the most recognizable Polish filmmakers. To commemorate this outstanding movie director, we have prepared a retrospective of his work. Piotr Kotowski, who is the curator of the program, chose 3 canonical titles. We will present all of them in digitally restored versions.\nThe film will be preceded by a lecture by Piotr Kotowski, a well-known Lublin film expert, long-time Rector of the Summer Film Academy in Zwierzyniec.\n\n\n \nNight Train, dir. Jerzy Kawalerowicz (Poland) 1959, 93’, 15+\nJerzy and Marta meet on the train from Hel to Warsaw. There is a shortage of vacancies on the train, which forces both of them to travel in one compartment. Although each of the two 40-year-olds would prefer to spend this trip alone, they slowly start a conversation. A film awarded at the Venice IFF.\n
