DESCRIPTION:Stanisław Lem was born 100 years ago. And although he is no longer with us, he left his immortal literature behind him, constantly inspiring artists from all over the world. Lem’s work has always been popular among filmmakers. And even though it is no secret that the writer did not reciprocate directors’ feelings, over the years there have been at least a few adaptations of his prose that deserve attention. As part of the series History in cinema/History of cinema, we present two original selections of the outstanding curators. Piotr Kotowski selected feature films programme, and Piotr Kardas chose short animated productions.\nLEM ON A BIG SCREEN\nscreening curator: Piotr Kotowski\nSolaris, dir. Andriej Tarkowski (USSR) 1972, 167’, 16+\nKelvin, a specialist in cosmonaut psychology, has been given an order to travel to the planet called Solaris. He is supposed to investigate what happened to the group of scientists there. After reaching his destination, it turned out that the planet has an extraordinary property: it recreates and materializes the images that people hide at the bottom of their consciousness. Winner of the Grand Prix of the Cannes IFF and the FIPRESCI award at the Karlovy Vary IFF.\nFilm with polish subtitles.\n
