SUMMARY:FOCUS: ANIMATION
DESCRIPTION:In the Fokus: Animation competition, there are 8 films with Poland’s representation which is extremely strong this year. The enormous freedom that animation gives the authors has been fully used to create expressive, artistic cinema. Each of the films was made in a different technique, has a different aesthetic and covers a different subject. Each of them is original and tells about significant things in an interesting way.\nWe finish issuing tickets 30 minutes before the screening or when there are no more left.\nDue to the distributor’s decision, the film “Story” cannot be shown online.\n \nAt First Sight, dir. Sjaak Rood (Netherlands) 2018, 16’ \nA man and a woman drive straight towards one another. They’re both too stubborn to give up to the other. \nFilm awarded at PSIAF. Polish premiere. \n \n \n \n \nMarbles, dir. Natalia Spychała (Poland) 2019, 5’ \nHypnotizing pendulum sets a particular mechanism in motion. Małgorzata Bosek-Serafińska (Poland) 2018, 12’\nA graphic and sound diary, created from the everyday paper garbage and cigarette packages of one chain smoker, accumulated by one collector within six years. The film is dedicated to the memory of Marek Serafinski, an animation filmmaker and producer, privately the director’s husband. \nFilm awarded e.g. at IAFF Animator and Etiuda&Anima IFF.\n \n \n \n\nMy Galactic Twin Galaction, dir. Sasha Svirsky (Russian Federation) 2020, 7’ \nGood and evil, utopia and dystopia, narrative and post narrative collide in a mortal battle to entertain the audience. \nFilm presented at Annecy IAFF and Berlinale. Polish premiere. \n \n \n \n \n\nPurpleboy, dir. Alexandre Siqueira (Portugal) 2019, 14’ \nOscar is a child who sprouts in his parents garden. Nobody knows his biological sex, but he claims the masculine gender. One day Oscar experiences an extraordinary yet painful adventure in an authoritarian and oppressive world. Will he manage to have the identity recognition he desires so much? \nFilm presented e.g. at Animafest Zagreb. \n \n \n \nLast Supper, dir. Piotr Dumała (Poland) 2019, 13’ \nA drama based around a group of men seated at a table, moving to the rhythm of modern music for a string quartet, or: the Last Supper of Jesus and the Twelve Apostles. \nFilm awarded at IAFF Animator, presented at Ottawa IAF and Animafest Zagreb. \n \n \n \nStory, dir.
