The live album registered on 18th January 2015 in Jazz Club Hipnoza in Katowice is the result of many years of Pink Freud's works on the new interpretations of the legendary electronic band Autechre's output. This time their accomplishments have been adapted to bass, trumpet, baritone saxophone and drums. The first edition of the album delighted the audience so much that it sold out immediately. Musicians responded to the fans enthusiastic reaction with a vinyl re-edition and a tournée promoting the album. Wojciech Mazolewski – Pink Freud front man and the initiator of this extraordinary experiment says that music of Autechre entered his life in the 90’s and immediately became a love of his. The beauty of the futuristic sound of the duet from Manchester and their wild musical imagination can be template for every musician. The band sums it up: “After so many years of working on this music we feel like it's a part of us. The personal touch, the connection between us, the way we play, improvisation and sometimes pure coincident, are the reasons why this project is so strong and authentic. That's why we came up with this idea. Not a studio but a club. With people and for them. From the beginning to the end”.

Not only fans were enthusiastic about the new album. Critics were also delighted.

Agnieszka Szydłowska of the Polish Radio Trójka sums up the work of Pink Freud in one sentence: “You need to see a live performance of this record, because only then you can face people going beyond their limitations”.

The Pink Freund band consists of:

Wojtek Mozolewski – bass

Adam Milwiw-Baron – trumpet

Rafał Klimczuk – drums

Within the new cycle "LFF and Friends" our audience will see replicas of our fellow film festivals as well as full-length films of young directors who have been co-operating with LFF for years.

Father, the Pieronek Story” („Ojciec, czyli o Pieronku”) is the first full-length documentary which tells the story of one of the most important figures of the Polish Church. Bishop Tadeusz Pieronek, a highlander from Żywiecczyzna, who lives on the Wawel hill, eagerly talks to the youth at Woodstock Festival and never avoids difficult subjects. How did the war, highlander culture, poetry and, most of all, his father Władysław, the founder of the first Polish rural cinema, influence him? The film includes remarks of not only bishop Pieronek and his brother Mieczysław, but also Jerzy Owsiak, priest Adam Boniecki and editor Marek Zając. Krzysztof Trebunia-Tutka composed the music. The film was directed by Szymon J. Wróbel.

Szymon Wróbel’s film is vital because – with the help of its remarkable main character – it reminds that the Polish Church is not doomed to be radical. Bishop Pieronek is the embodiment of openness, charisma and readiness for dialogue, the features which are equally effective both on the ambo and at Woodstock.

Piotr Czerkawski, Polish Film Institute Prize-winner

Szymon J. Wróbel is a journalist and a director. He is the author of the films “In his eyes” („Jego oczami”) and “From Home... (Z domu…”), he also cooperates with TVP3 and with TVN. For years he has been working with the Cracow newspaper "Dziennik Polski" as well as „Lounge Magazyn” and „Move Out”. He worked on various films, including “The Cheater Day” („Dzień Oszusta”) directed by Bartosz Warwas, and "Goetzes stories" (Losy Goetzów”) directed by Andrzej Celiński. LIVE MUSIC IMPROVISATIONS TO FILMS

01.12.2017  (FRIDAY) 9:30 PM

Anteater” Festival Club

The debut show “Tender Resignation” („Czuła Rezygnacja”) was a not-that-expected success. The group, specialising in uncompromising search without unnecessary competition against anything, comes back to the stage. Confidently and blindly, just like a mole. The début was a meta-humorous confrontation with Alfred Hitchcock’s unknown heritage in the field of silent films, but now it is time for slightly more abstract and momentous form. We’ll see the accomplishments of the cartoons and comic books’ pioneer - Winsor McCay. Pure experiments! They will be accompanied by music prepared especially for this occasion, performed by a small orchestra, this time including: Łukasz Downar (Tatvamasi, Klezmaholics, Starcy, poetry jam sessions...), Jan Michalec (jazz, electronica, improvisation, musical tradition) and Agnieszka Gurczyńska (vocal, effects, spells, organized sensibility...). The form of improvisation is imposed by the form of McCay’s experiments, but creating repetitiveness is what poses a challenge. Pressing your knuckles against your eyes until you see colourful spots. In one sentence: a lot of serious fun.
