Lublin Film Festival is an international celebration of cinema and an opportunity to get acquainted with the latest films of emerging stars of world cinematography.
LFF All Year Round screenings are replay of festival’s hits which revolve around the same subject matter or are similar in form. The films included in this screening come from the LFF 2018 program.
If you did not manage to be at the festival or would like to recall selected films you will have a great opportunity in the following months. But remember that all the films you can watch only at LFF.
The screening in April is an expedition into the world of imagination of animated films filmmakers.
Program:
1. Ugly, dir. Nikita Diakur (Germany) 2017, 12’
An ugly cat struggles to coexist in a fragmented and broken world, eventually finding a soulmate in a mystical chief. Inspired by the internet story ‘Ugly the Cat’.
2. Wicked Girl, dir. Ayçe Kartal (Turkey) 2017, 8’
S., 8 years old, is a little Turkish girl with an overflowing imagination. She is keen on nature and animals. As she is in hospital, she is looking back on happy holidays in her grandparents’ village, but dark and terrifying memories emerge and, little by little, begin to make sense.

3. Strawberry days, dir. Eva Sekeresova (Slovakia) 2016, 12’
Deer Karol tries to live normally, but it is effectively obstructed by this intrusive, strawberry hallucination.
4. A Demonstration of Brilliance in Four Acts, dir. Morten Tšinakov (Estonia) 2018, 15’
The people are waiting for someone special. Someone special is born – a grown-up man in a suit. They follow the man and cheer for his utterly pointless performances, until he meets a woman who is made for him.
5. Link, dir. Robert Löbel (Germany) 2017, 8’
Two characters are linked by their hair. They influence each other by every move they make and wherever they go.
6. Dead Horses, dir. Marc Riba i Anna Solanas (Spain) 2016, 6’
In an isolated and unknown place during a war a child is forced to flee. On his way, horse corpses everywhere. Why horses have decided to kill themselves? The film inspired by the recollections of Ryszard Kapuściński.

7. Mermaids and Rhinos, dir. Viktoria Traub (Hungary) 2017, 16’
Eight-year-old Tilda’s memories of her family: the circus member ex-mermaid grandmother, the erotically overheated mother and the disappeared father whose broken heart manifests as a rhino.
Screened at Animafest Zagrab and Annecy International Animation Festival, award for the best animation at Bangalore Short Film Festival 2018.
8. Blue Light, dir. Harriet Francis Croucher (UK) 2017, 4’
Emergency service personnel talk about the realities of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, and its impact on their lives and their families.
9. Routine, Fokke Mars (Netherlands) 2017, 5’
A man that is stuck in his routine tries to escape by dreaming of a world where Giants live as tall as skyscrapers, where trees are upside down and the laws of physics don’t apply.
10. Nothing Happens, dir. Michelle i Uri Kranot (Danemark) 2017, 12’
It’s freezing cold in the city suburbs. Yet some people are gathering. All are waiting for something to happen. But nothing does…

11. Carlotta’s Face, dir. Valentin Riedl and Frédéric Schuld (Germany) 2018, 5’
As a child, Carlotta didn’t expect the people around here to have faces. She even doesn’t recognize her own face. Years later, she learns about a rare, untreatable deficit of her brain. It was art, after all, that offered her a way to finally recognize herself.
